I. Warm up time
1. Greeting: Ask the students to answer the following questions
together.
(1) How are you today? (Good./ I’m good. Thanks.)
(2) Is everyone here/ online today?
(Ask the vice class leader to take a roll call.)
2. Before playing the video, the teacher can ask students the
following questions:
(1) What do you see in the pictures?
(2) What might be the topic of the reading?
II. Reading Teaching
1. Play the video of the reading two times. For the first time, play the video without script and the teacher asks the students the following question:
What is the reading about?
(It is about Hong Kong before and now.)
2. And the teacher plays the video with English script for the second time and asks the students the following questions:
(1) What did people do in Hong Kong before?
(They were fishermen in Hong Kong before .)
(2) What is there in Hong Kong now?
(There are a lot of tall buildings.)
3. Ask students to finish the questions on p.94
(1) Ask students to answer the question of “Reading Comprehension”.
(2) Divid all the students into 5 groups, and ask each group to discuss the answers to the question of “Reading Skills”.
(3) Choose one to two groups to present their answers.
III. Activity
1. Divid all the students into 5 groups and hand out the worksheet “Keelung Then and Now” to each student.
2. Ask each group to discuss and find out the answes.
3. Choose one to two groups to present their answers.
IV Wrap up
Assign students to finish the worksheet“Keelung Then and
Now”.
